This is a staff position and is residential in Dubai with full family expat status.
Candidates must have experience with the following to be considered:
- Onshore drilling project experience is a must (Candidates with only offshore drilling background will not be considered)
- Experience with planning, designing, and engineering onshore. Experience with HP/HT, Sour Gas (H2S) and deep wells is a must.
- Must have experience with drilling projects in Iraq.
- Must have extensive experience working for the operator side (Candidates with only service company experience will not be considered)

Position Title: Lead Drilling and Completion Engineer

Position Overview:
To represent as a shareholder in all Drilling and Completion engineering-related matters. The role provides technical overview, governance, and challenge to operator activities to ensure alignment with shareholder objectives, technical standards, and value delivery.
Responsibilities
Governance & Technical Assurance: Act as the company’s focal point in drilling and completion discussions with operators. Participate in JV technical meetings (e.g., TCMs, well planning reviews, IFDP sessions, risk workshops). Review and challenge operator well designs, completion programs, stimulation plans, and contracting strategies. Ensure shareholder objectives and technical standards are upheld.
- Track and analyze drilling, completion, workover, NPT, and efficiency KPIs; flag deviations and recommend corrective actions to the Director – NOA Technical Support.
- Support well surveillance reviews and contribute to identifying drilling/completion performance improvements, risk reduction, and cost optimization opportunities.
- Review relevant sections of investment proposals, AFEs, and technical notes related to drilling and completion engineering inputs.
- Ensure all proposed well activities are technically justified, commercially viable, aligned with shareholder KPIs, and compliant with HSE and industry best practices.
- Coordinate with internal subsurface, production, facilities, and HSE functions to consolidate company’s technical position on well design and execution.
- Contribute to joint studies, well reviews, peer assists, technical audits, and performance evaluations as required.
- Provide structured technical feedback and risk summaries to the Director – NOA Technical Support.
- Escalate critical deviations, technical concerns, or performance gaps in well delivery to ensure timely shareholder response.
- Provide input into the technical sections of the Annual Budget, 5-Year Plans, and WP&B validation processes related to drilling and completion engineering.
Performance Surveillance: Track drilling/completion KPIs (well delivery, NPT, HSE, costs, efficiency). Analyze deviations and propose corrective measures. Support post-well reviews and loss recovery initiatives.
Collaboration & Coordination: Interface with internal subsurface, production, facilities, and HSE functions to consolidate company’s technical position. Contribute to joint audits, peer reviews, and operator workshops. Maintain effective relationships with JV partners, contractors, and service companies.
Strategic Contribution & Reporting: Provide structured technical feedback, risk assessments, and recommendations to the Director. Escalate deviations or concerns requiring shareholder intervention. Provide input into Annual Budget, 5-Year Plans, and WP&B validation processes relating to drilling and completions.
Essential Experience and Skills Required:
- Minimum Education Level Required: Bachelor’s degree in petroleum or mechanical engineering
- The minimum years of experience required (All qualification listed Must be job related):
- Minimum 10 years of experience in drilling, completion, and workover operations and engineering.
- At least 5 years of onshore / offshore experience, including exposure to directional drilling, HPHT wells, and highly deviated well designs.
- Prior experience in shareholder/partner governance roles preferred.
