Paragon GE is looking for a Senior Economist for a position with an Oil & Gas Operating company in London, UK.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Economist will be responsible to provide support to the VP, Commercial & Strategic Planning with efficient, pro-active, and commercially robust analytical modelling, evaluation, and analysis for commercial, planning and business development activities.  Assisting with analysis of strategic, commercial, corporate finance and development opportunities relating to the company’s portfolio of assets and long-range plans. Working with a range of internal disciples and country teams.

Have an active role on crude oil marketing, scheduling, entitlement, pricing, logistics and marketing. Engagement with operating hubs in Africa, crude marketers and joint venture and government partners. Helping preparing strategy and communications for Partners/Government on crude marketing matters.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
Commercial Analysis -
  • Proactively managing the company’s assets, financing, and long-term corporate economic models.
  • Preparation of briefing notes, presentations, and other papers for internal and external meetings. Ensuring consistency and accuracy of all modelling results and analysis presented
  • Design and development of economic oil and gas upstream and commercial related models in line with requirements. Analyzing strategic, commercial, corporate finance and development opportunities relating to the company’s portfolio of assets. Rationalizing the portfolio and analyzing long-term work programs and funding.
  • Annual and biannual updates of debt market redeterminations and reserves audit technical cases and models for debt redeterminations and reserves audit processes.
  • Working with near-term FP&A function to link in long-term plan and models for forecasting.
  • Interaction across internal and external disciplines, collecting input material and assumptions and checking data integrity. Ensuring consistency and accuracy of all modelling results.
  • Obtain feedback from all users to ensure the functionality and relevance of models and presentations.
  • Auditing and commenting on third party models.
  • Liaison with partners, consultants and subcontractors as required.
  • Other ad hoc projects as required.

Crude Sales -
  • Active role in the crude marketing process across asset base. Managing near-term schedule as well as long plan lifting plans for joint venture partners and government. Working with multiple crude trading houses.
  • Dealing with pricing structures and reconciliation for delivered cargos. Supporting demurrage team where required.
  • Preparing briefing notes; presentations and other papers for internal and government fiscal systems use.
  • Preparing briefing notes; presentations on commercials for asset FinCom / OpCom
  • Market and Pricing Intelligence
  • Involvement with asset teams on entitlement models, domestic obligation proposals
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, mathematics, or finance or Equivalent qualification (e.g., Engineering, Economics, or Business Administration)
  • 3-5 years of O&G Economics experience

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Fluent English, written and spoken.
  • Experience in upstream oil and gas, preferably in a corporate, financial, or banking environment with reasonable technical knowledge.
  • Enthusiastic and results driven individual with the ability to achieve required results at pace and under pressure.
  • Strong commercial background with the ability to understand key strategic drivers of an E&P business.
  • Strong analytical and modelling skills.
  • Well-honed written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Well organized with the ability to meet exact deadlines.
  • High level of accuracy and accountability.
  • Ability to draw information from multiple sources and condense it into a concise written report.
  • Familiar with industry information sources.
  • Team player who can support both the Commercial function as well as work closely with Legal, Operations and Finance teams.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint proficiency.
